REVIEW: Fit Me Concealer by Maybelline

Hi everyone!

I have been on a hunt of good and affordable concealers. I actually own a lot of concealers just because I haven't really found the "ONE". My sister and I went to a bazaar almost three months ago and there was this store that sells US drugstore cosmetics and they were really cheap. The lip glosses were about P100 (approx US$2) and we noticed a "brown" lip gloss. When I took it out, it was actually a concealer and when we asked the saleslady there how much was it, she told us it was P100 as well. My sister and I were so excited! Unfortunately, the lady noticed that it was actually a concealer..she sold it to us for P199 (approx US$4). However, I think we still had a pretty good deal. I tried it at once when we went home and it turned out to be just a little bit lighter than our skintone. I tried it out for about a month and so here it my review:

Name:  Fit  Me Concealer by Maybelline

Bought from: I forgot! got it for P199 (approx US4)
Price: US$6.49 in  the  Maybelline Website
Shade: 25 Medium

What it says on the Website:
PRODUCT DETAILS

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

It's makeup that doesn’t mess with you.

• No oils, no waxes, no nonsense
• Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, natural
• Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through
• Non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested, ophthalmologist-tested, fragrance-free

FOR BEST RESULTS

Dot concealer onto imperfections or under eyes. Pat with finger to blend.

When we bought the product, it did not come with a box. It came in a tube that looks like a lip gloss. The applicator also looks similar to that of a lip gloss applicator.  I like the applicator. It was not stiff and it holds a lot of product.

Swatches:

As you can see from the swatches, it is really creamy, opaque and very blendable. Also, my skin felt smooth after applying the product. It also has a minimal white cast.

Test drive:

A you can see, I do not really have dark undereye circles but my undereyes are very puffy thus creating a shadow and making me look like I have dark undereye circles. I also have a lot of lines in that area so using concealers are quite tricky because some settle on the lines.

I used my fingers to pat the product and blend it to my skin. It does brighten up and has significantly decreased the darkness on undereyes.  I think I have applied way too much of the product though.

This is me sans makeup.

Here, I just used concealer on my undereyes and sides of my nose and applied some powder, blush and eyebrows.

Overall Thoughts:

What I like:
-The creamy consistency is just right especially when applied on my undereye circles since it does not settle on the lines
-does not cake
-color matches my skin tone
-no foul odor
- easily blendable
- lasts 4-6 hours without primer

Issues:
-might be difficult to find here in the Philippines, I have yet to find an online seller that carries this product

I really like this concealer. It is by far my favorite concealer coverage and color wise. I highly recommend this especially to those girls have lines on their undereyes as well.

I hope you find my review helpful. Please do comment below what you think of my post and what your fave concealer is! Take care!

REVIEW: MAYBELLINE EYESTUDIO LASTING DRAMA GEL LINER IN 01 BLACK

Hi everyone!

Are you guys obsessed with eyeliners? I know I am! hhihiih.. I have been using eyeliners since I started putting on makeup. I for one think that a makeup look is not complete without any eyeliner. It is definitely a must have in every girls kikay kit!

Today, I am reviewing the Maybelline Eyestudio longlasting Gel liner  in black. I went to the mall  a couple of weeks ago and I saw that they have a sale on Maybelline products and the beauty clerk there told me that since they are releasing a new line of gel liners with better formulation, they are selling their gel liner at 50% off. Ohh boy..was I so happy!! Hahaha... I have been wanting to but their gel liners for so long but I was not able to afford it. I did not care if it is an old formula... as long as it is cheap..(why not chocnut?)I usually get rid of my eyeliners and mascara after 3 to 4 months so I figured this is perfect and I will not regret spending money on something I did not like.
Long story short...I have tried the product and read on if you want to know what I think about!

Name: Maybelline Eyestudio Longlasting Gel liner

Color: 01 Black
Bought from: SM City, Iloilo
Price: P449.00 (approx US$9) but I got it for 50% off at P224.5 (approx US$5)

What the package says:

Ingredients:

Swatches:

Using the brush that it came with, I swatched it on the back of my hand. I smudged it right away.
I was highly unimpressed!! But here it is after letting the product set for about 30 seconds.

It is definitely waterproof! I had to smudge it a few times in order to take the product off (and it is already wet!). The longer it stays on the skin, the less likely it will smudge easily.

This is me wearing the eyeliner. I find is difficult to use the brush and I could not create a "perfect" wing.

I used it together with my Revlon Whipped Creme Makeup and it stayed on me for more than 6 hours. It was humid that night mind you!

MY THOUGHTS:

Packaging:

It comes in a cute semitransparent  jar with a lid. It is very sturdy and looks like it will not break easily. The lid can be tightly closed so it won't dry easily. The brush that it came with is okay, I guess. I have not used it a lot because I find it a little difficult to use. But it is quiet handy since it is small and short enough to carry anywhere plus it has its own cover it will not get dirty easily.  I still prefer using a stiff angled brush when lining my eyes though.

Formulation:

The gel liner is very creamy and glides on easily. It does not have a strong odor. The color is very black and when applied, it is shiny at first but turns matte after a few seconds. At first, I thought it was not waterproof nor smudge proof as it claims to be but after about 30 seconds, the product really sticks on my skin and is difficult to smudge and is waterproof.

Lasting power:

As you can see from the pictures, unless you rub your eyes vigorously, the product stays put and does not budge nor crease.

Affordability/Availability
In my case, spending P400+ ($US8) on a gel liner is a little expensive especially since I usually get rid of my eye products such as liquid liners and mascara after 3 to 4 month. But I have read the gel liners can be used for up to a year so I hope this will not dry out easily.
Almost all SM department stores carry Maybelline products so this is not hard to find.

What I like:

- Smudge proof, waterproof
-Long-lasting
-Easy to find
-Sturdy packaging
-Pigmented and creamy
-Does not irritate my eyes

Some Issues:

- I have only had this for weeks so I'm not sure how long until the product will dry out.

PS:

They have released a 36 hour version, so you might want to check it out as well since it claims to be even better than this one.

All in all, I love this product and  I am so happy I bought it! I still use my San San Waterproof Eyeliner pen since it is easier for me but one times when I want a  thinner and much precise wing or if I want to line my lower lash lash line, then this is my go to product. Summer is here in the Philippines so this product is great for those days when you need to look your best and you will be under the sun or you will be out for a long time. So, will I use repurchase this product?Heck yes!! I might try the 36 hour version though! :)

What type of eyeliner do you prefer? Have you tried this product? Please do let me know in the comments down below!!

Thank you for reading and take care!!

The product as it says is water-based and not sticky but is not water-y as well.

ME:
Skin type: normal to dry
Problem areas: Uneven skin tone, large pores, a red zit on my right cheek

I applied the product on the right side of my face at first and then blended it out using my fingers.
*As you can see, it did evened my skin a bit but did not cover my zit 100%.
* It did brighten my face though. :)

* I used my ELF two-way powder foundation to set the foundation.

FOR COMPARISON:

 MY THOUGHTS:

What I like:
  • Affordable
  • It is water-based and blends easily without making making my face look cakey
  • Adheres well to the skin
  • Gives a natural,dew-y finish ( light to medium coverage)
  • No need to use setting powder
  • It brightens my face, making me look fresh and awake
  •  It stayed on me for about 4 hours without using a primer.
What I don't like:
  • The fist thing I DONT like about this product is that the first time I tried it on, I had a strange sensation on my skin. I felt a sort of tingly, minty sensation on my skin. It was a little unpleasant at first, then after a few seconds the tingly sensation went away but the minty feeling stayed on for about 5 minutes or so. It really bothered me at first but it did not break me out or anything so I continued using it for 2 weeks. Now, I don't feel that unpleasant tingly sensation anymore but I do feel a cooling sensation on face every time I use it.
  • It does not do anything about my pores though :(
  • It has a very faint alcohol-like odor.
Recommendation:
  • If you have super sensitive skin, I suggest you try this out first and see if you and I have the same reaction. My twin sister used this foundation as well and she did not feel anything unpleasant tingly sensation She did say that she felt a cooling sensation after she applied the product on her skin.
  • You can get away without using a setting powder but if you think you need to set it with powder, it is better to use a loose powder and make sure to apply some blush or bronzer so that your face will not look flat.
I am really not sure whether I will repurchase this once I run out because I do have other light coverage foundation lying around. But, if you are looking for a natural finish go-to-for-everyday-use foundation that you don't need to set with powder, this is a  good option.

HOW TO: "No makeup " Makeup look (Using a beauty sponge)

I just uploaded a video of my "No makeup" makeup look and here are some of the snapshots from the video. Id updating this post for other pictures and more details. Bye for now! :)

Here is the video by the way :)

NO MAKEUP LOOK/ / USES OF A BEAUTY SPONGE

I filmed a video on how to use a beauty sponge or beauty blender. I still need to edit the video because it did not turn out right. Most of the clips were shot at a different light and my bronzer and blush was not that visible. So...I decided to just list here the uses of a beauty sponge instead. Just in case I don't have a video to show for it.

1. Blend and minimizes streaks and "cakiness" when using a cream foundation.

2. It can be used to apply liquid foundation. Just be sure to wet the sponge so that it wont absorb much of the product.

3. To  make liquid foundation last longer, instead of using a brush to apply finishing powder, use a sponge instead. Be sure to dap the sponge on your powder AND DO NOT SWIRL it around your powder or any powder product as it will destroy your sponge.

4. It can be used to apply bronzer and can be used to contour the cheeks and nose as well. Light dab the rounded end of the sponge to the hollows of your cheeks while doing a fishy face. Use the pointed part of the sponge to contour your nose. This will make it look more natural and will also make your bronzer last longer.

5.Use the rounded end to apply your powder or cream blush. since the sponge is wet, your blush on will look more natural on your skin.

6. If you applied too much bronzer or blush just dab your beauty sponge to your powder and dab it all over  your cheeks. The sponge will absorb some of the color and will make it look more natural.

7. To make your makeup last longer, instead of using a brush, set your makeup using the beauty sponge. It will lock in your foundation and wont let it slide. :)

By the way , I bought my beauty sponge from Etude house and it costs P370. I saw one in Divisorria that was similar to the Etude house beauty sponge it costs only 80 pesos. :)
