Look Fab and Glam for Less

Hi everyone!!

I admit that I am on a budget. If I can, I will buy all the makeup there is!However, I can't do that so whenever I buy makeup products that costs more than P500, I always make sure that I really need it and that I am 100% sure that I will use it. If the product turn out to be crap, then I try to use it in other ways like if it is a foundation that is too light or too dark on me, I mix it with other foundation to achieve my shade.

Anyway, this is my entry for My Lucid Intervals Anniversary Makeup Contest. I am a firm believer that to be pretty and glam, one need not to spend a ton of money. Here are my tips on how to look fab even on a budget.

1. Know your skin type and skin color and undertone. This is my number 1 tip because this will save you money and time when choosing the right products that will compliment your skin tone. Also, it is best to look at the ingredients so that you can see what products you are putting on your face. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to shy away from products with TALC and MICA because they are known to cause skin irritations.

2. Do your research and (if possible) try before you buy. There are tons of people doing reviews and blogs about makeup products so it would be good to check them first before buying a certain product especially on high end one.

3. Know what products to invest in. In my opinion, invest in foundations and primers because they provide the base for your makeup. Especially for eyeshadows, it is best to buy eye primers because it will definitely extend the wear of your eye shadow no matter how cheap it is.

4. Skin care. Makeup can only do so much. No matter how great the coverage of your foundation is, at the end of the day, it is more important to have good skin.

So those were my tips, on to my makeup video:

SPRING/SUMMER 2013 TREND: BRIGHT MATTE LIPS

Hi everyone!!

Do you read Michelle Phan's blog?I do!! I was inspired with one of her  posts about 3 trends on the runway that can be tried in real life. When I saw her post, I was like, "I need to recreate this look!!!". So I did, I juts toned it down a little. How I wish I have more lipsticks in my collection, but alas!I don't have much so I used bright eyeshadows instead and I really liked the finish.

I love this trend especially for the summer. I know that a lot of people do not like to put a lot of products on their face and also, this is a quick way to look your best if you are running late for something. Anyway, here is the video of how I created this look! :)

GRADUATION MAKEUP FOR BROWN EYES

Hello everyone!

Graduation season is here again in the Philippines and though I have graduated not too many years ago, I would like to share a tutorial on how to look pretty on this special occasion.

I decided to do a simple eye look with a pop of purple on the lower waterline. Purple looks great on any eye color but especially on brown eyes. I did not want to make a super smokey eye look since this is a graduation and mostly it will be in daytime. I wanted to do something that is easy to recreate. I used a peachy coral blush paired with coral lips to brighten up the look and give it a summer-y vibe. :)

Product list:
Light beige eyeshadow: WetnWild Palette in I love Matte
NYC Bronzer in Sunny
Dark Mettalic Brown:Careline Tweenies Palette (I'm not sure about the name anymore, :(
Purple Eyeliner: Eye Pearl Liner by Nature Republic
Matte Purple Eyeshadow: Dollface 88 Palette
Avon SuperExtend Extreme Mascara
San San Cheek Blusher in Mocha Blush
Pink Lipliner from Loreal
Avon ColorBliss Lipstick in Fresh Melon

How to: Summer Sunset Eyes ~~ Patrine's Thoughts

Hello there!!

Summer is here! Are you excited? I decided to film a bright makeup look perfect for summer. But of course you have to use waterproof makeup if you decide to wear this while swimming. Haha!! Graduation and Prom is also near, so you can definitely sport this look as well.

In this tutorial I decided to use gold and pink because I feel like they look great together.  I don't have a bright pink lipstick so I used an eye shadow instead. In the video,it does not look so pink but when I took pictures, my lips looked pink.  I hope you check out my tutorial! :)

MY QUICK COURSE ON EVENING MAKE UP || Maquillage Professionnel

Hello everyone!!

Last month, I was lucky enough to win a voucher worth 2,800 from Maquillage Professionnel. It is located in Manila and I'm from Iloilo but fortunately, my sister and I have been planning to go to Manila for our mini birthday vacation. I called the number written in the voucher and chose February 19 at 10am for my appointment. I woke super early on that day. I remember feeling exited and a little worried at the same time because I don't know what's in store for me and I was feeling a little bit under the weather ( must be because of the weather!!). I was worried because I might sneeze accidentally or cough non stop. The address says that it is located in Shoppes at Belagio in Bonifacio Global City and since we were staying in Taguig, we were pretty confident that we will find the place in no time. Unfortunately, it took us about 30 minutes to find the place!! I was super late for my 10 am appointment!! But, the ladies there were so nice and told me that my quick course will start at 11 am and I will be taught by Mr. Mio. A nice person ushered me to the room and I waited there for about 15 minutes or so. I did not mind though, because I was late in the first place.

The room where I had my workshop/quick course is pretty spacious with lots of huge mirrors and it was air conditioned so I felt comfortable waiting. Oh! How I wish I brought a decent camera (I used my celphone's camera) and I should have taken a lot of pictures. I so regret not taking pictures of the makeup that they have! My gosh! It was a lot and mostly by Makeup forever!! I have never tried that brand and I'm so excited to use it.Mr Mio arrived and  started the quick course. He seems so nice and very talkative. I also learned that he spent 7 years in Capiz  I was not able to speak much because I somehow felt extra shy that day!Hahah!! I chose evening makeup and he gave me a list of basic things I need to consider when putting on makeup. He then proceeded to showing me how to do my makeup. He did the right side of my face and  I did the left side of my face. He taught me techniques on how to apply my foundation, eyebrows and eye shadow.
  • For those with dry skin (like me!) , it is better to use liquid based foundation with a dewy finish rather than matte.
  • Apply correcting concealer first before applying foundation.
    • orange: dark spots
    • purple: brown spots
    • green: red spots
  • Apply foundation by patting the foundation brush on the skin then blending it out using a sponge.
  • When using a loose powder to set the foundation, use a sponge to dab the loose powder  and use a face brush to sweep the excess powder.
  • When contouring, draw an imaginary diamond on the edge of your face. The outside of the diamond should be the area to contour.
I was glad to be able to experience something like this. I have learned a lot and I have realized that with the proper technique, I do not need to use a dozen of brushes when applying my makeup.( Mr. Mio only used two brushes for my eye makeup.)

Hello everyone!!

I recently found my long lost eye shadow called "Walking on Eggshells" by WetnWild!! I found it in one of my mom's bags and oohhh boy did that make me soo happy!! I remember getting it last year and had been using it everyday for work. However, I don't know what happened but I kind of forgot about it for awhile and now I'm so happy I found it again. The only downside is that it looks crap when I found it.

Anyhooo....here it is:
*The colors are pigmented with a nice shimmer.
*I got mine from the US but you can buy this from online shops and Watsons for P299  or less.

In lieu of having found my long lost palette, I decided to film a makeup tutorial!! I used the three colors of the palette for my eyeshadows and added  green on my lower lashline to make it less boring.
